Zambia, located in Southern Africa, shares borders with eight countries. The total length of Zambia’s border is approximately 5,700 kilometres. To the north, Zambia borders the Democratic Republic of the Congo (2,332 km), and to the northeast, it shares a border with Tanzania (1,065 km). To the east, Zambia borders Malawi (837 km), and to the south, it shares borders with Mozambique (419 km). To the southwest, Zambia borders Zimbabwe (797 km), while to the west, it shares borders with Angola (1,110 km) and Botswana (0.15 km). Zambia’s position at the heart of Southern Africa makes it an important regional trade hub.
