What causes lightning to form during a storm?
- ๐๏ธ 10
Lightning forms during storms when particles within a cloud collide, creating a separation of electrical charges. The upper part of the cloud becomes positively charged, while the lower part becomes negatively charged. When the charge difference becomes strong enough, a discharge occurs, creating a lightning bolt. Lightning can occur within a cloud, between clouds, or between the cloud and the ground. This dramatic phenomenon is often accompanied by thunder.
