What causes hot springs to form?

  • ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ 8

Hot springs form when groundwater is heated by geothermal activity beneath the Earthโ€™s surface. The water percolates through porous rock, absorbs heat from magma or hot rocks, and rises back to the surface. The temperature of a hot spring depends on its depth and proximity to heat sources. Hot springs are often found in volcanic regions and can provide habitats for unique microorganisms.
