Where is the largest known living organism located?

  • ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ 11

The largest known living organism is a fungal colony of Armillaria ostoyae, commonly known as the honey fungus, located in the Malheur National Forest in Oregon, USA. This single organism spans over 2,400 acres (970 hectares) and is estimated to be thousands of years old. While the fungus is spread out underground in the form of mycelia, it is considered a single organism because it shares the same genetic structure. This organism continues to grow and thrive, slowly overtaking trees and other vegetation.
