How do human bones heal?
- ๐๏ธ 5
Human bones heal through a process called bone remodeling, which occurs in four stages: inflammation, bone production, bone maturation, and bone remodeling. When a bone breaks, the body sends cells to the fracture site to form a blood clot, followed by the formation of a soft callus made of collagen. Over time, this callus hardens into a bony callus. Finally, the bone is reshaped and strengthened through a process called remodeling, where excess bone is resorbed, and the bone regains its original shape and strength.
