Who invented the dishwasher and when?
- ๐๏ธ 10
Josephine Cochrane, an American inventor, invented the dishwasher in 1886. Frustrated with the time-consuming process of washing dishes by hand, Cochrane designed a machine that used rotating wheels to spray water and soap onto dishes, cleaning them more efficiently than manual washing. She patented the invention in 1886 and introduced it at the 1893 Worldโs Fair. Initially designed for commercial use, dishwashers eventually became common household appliances in the 20th century, transforming kitchen chores and making everyday life easier for millions of families.
