Who invented the modern computer and when?
- ๐๏ธ 9
The modern computer is the result of contributions from many inventors, but the first true programmable computer is credited to Charles Babbage, an English mathematician, who conceptualized and designed the “Analytical Engine” in the 1830s. However, the first functional electronic computer was developed by John Presper Eckert and John W. Mauchly in 1945. Their invention, the ENIAC (Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer), was the first fully electronic and programmable computer, marking the beginning of the digital computing era. This laid the foundation for the computers we use today.
