How do kingfishers live?

  • ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ 10

Kingfishers are small to medium-sized birds found near rivers, lakes, and coastal habitats across the world. They are carnivorous and feed mainly on fish, insects, and amphibians, which they catch by diving into the water from a perch. Kingfishers are excellent hunters, using their sharp beaks to spear their prey. They build their nests in burrows along riverbanks or in tree hollows. Kingfishers are solitary and territorial birds, with males often defending territories during the breeding season. Mating occurs in spring, and after a courtship display, the female lays 4-7 eggs in a burrow. Both parents take turns incubating the eggs and feeding the chicks after they hatch.
