How do starfish regenerate their arms?

Starfish regenerate their arms through a process of cellular differentiation and growth. After losing an arm, the remaining cells near the wound site form a structure called a blastema, which serves as the foundation for regeneration. These cells multiply and develop into tissues such as muscle, nerves, and skin. This process can take months to years, depending on the species and environmental conditions.
