How do Arctic foxes survive in freezing temperatures?
- ๐๏ธ 14
Arctic foxes have several adaptations that help them survive the extreme cold. Their dense fur provides excellent insulation, and it changes colour with the seasonsโwhite in winter for camouflage in snow and brown in summer for blending with tundra. They have small ears, short legs, and a compact body shape, which minimise heat loss. Their fur-covered paws provide traction and insulation against the icy ground. Arctic foxes also build dens to shelter from harsh weather and store food for scarce periods.
