What is the role of chloroplasts in plants?

  • ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ 28

Chloroplasts are organelles in plant cells responsible for photosynthesis, the process by which plants convert sunlight into energy. Inside chloroplasts, the pigment chlorophyll absorbs light, primarily blue and red wavelengths, and converts it into chemical energy, which is used to synthesize sugars from carbon dioxide and water. This process not only provides energy for the plant but also produces oxygen as a byproduct, which is essential for life on Earth. Chloroplasts are key to the plant’s ability to grow, develop, and produce food.
