How do hyenas live?

  • ๐Ÿ‘๏ธ 12

Hyenas are carnivorous mammals found in Africa and parts of Asia. They live in a wide range of habitats, including grasslands, savannas, and forests. Hyenas are known for their highly social behavior, living in groups called clans, which can consist of up to 80 individuals. They are scavengers, often feeding on the kills of other predators, but they are also skilled hunters, capable of bringing down large prey, such as wildebeest and zebras. Hyenas communicate through a range of vocalizations, including the famous “laugh,” and use scent-marking to define their territory. They have a highly developed sense of smell and keen eyesight. Hyenas reproduce sexually, with females giving birth to 1-4 cubs after a gestation period of about 110 days. The cubs are born in dens, where they are cared for by the mother and the clan.
