How do bearded dragons live?
- ๐๏ธ 26
Bearded dragons are native to the arid deserts and woodlands of Australia. They are solitary creatures that are highly adaptable to their environment, often seen basking in the sun to regulate their body temperature. Bearded dragons are omnivores, feeding on a combination of insects, small mammals, fruits, and vegetables. They are often seen hunting for insects or eating vegetation in their native habitats. They have a unique defense mechanism in which they puff out their “beard” and inflate their bodies when threatened to appear larger. Bearded dragons live in terrariums when kept as pets, and they require a warm, dry environment with access to ultraviolet light to help with calcium absorption. They reproduce sexually, with females laying up to 30 eggs, which they bury in the sand or soil. The eggs hatch after 2-3 months, and the young are cared for by their environment until they can fend for themselves.
