How do voles live?

Voles are small, burrowing rodents found across North America, Europe, and parts of Asia. They are herbivores, feeding on grasses, seeds, and roots, and have a high metabolism that requires them to eat large amounts of food daily. Voles are most active at night, digging extensive tunnel systems in grasslands, forests, and agricultural fields to hide from predators and search for food. They are solitary creatures but can become more social during breeding seasons. Voles reproduce rapidly, with females giving birth to litters of 3-10 offspring after a gestation period of about 3 weeks. Their young are born blind and helpless but grow quickly, becoming independent within a few weeks.
