How do pelicans live?

Pelicans are large water birds known for their distinctive long bills and large throat pouches. They are found near bodies of water, including lakes, rivers, and coastal regions, where they hunt for fish. Pelicans are skilled fishermen and often work together in groups to herd fish into shallow waters, where they scoop them up with their bills. They are excellent fliers and can travel long distances in search of food. Pelicans are social animals and often nest in colonies, usually on islands or in isolated areas to avoid predators. Mating occurs during the breeding season, and after a gestation period of about 30 days, the female lays 1-3 eggs, which both parents take turns incubating. The chicks are cared for by both parents until they are old enough to hunt on their own.
